Chris Evans has an impressive filmography, to say the least. With his recognized talent, he's been in more than 35 movies (I think), so this post is probably going to be 'Part 1' of a series of Chris Evans movie reviews.
Disclaimer: I'm going to start with his older movies and work my way to his newer ones.
The Perfect Score (2004)
Rating: 4.5/10 stars
Genre: Comedy, Crime
Synopsis: Kyle (Chris Evans) is nothing short of disappointed when he realizes his low SAT score will be his downfall if he wants to get into his dream school and become an engineer. To guarantee a perfect score on his next SAT and increase his chances of getting into Cornell, he decides to take part in a risky plan to break into the Princeton Testing Center and steal the SAT questions.
Review: With Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson in the same movie, expectations are high. Take it from someone who watched the movie: lower your expectations.
The Perfect Score is not so much disappointing as it is forgettable. Also, it's kind of awkward. And cringeworthy. And admittedly, kind of entertaining. The characters all had different and exaggerated personalities and the plot was interesting enough. But before you watch this movie, you have to keep in mind that it's an early 2000s MTV movie about six (oh-so-rebellious) teens. As long as you do that, I'm sure you'll find some humor in it.
Recommended audience: If one of your guilty (or not-so-guilty) pleasures is cheesy YA books about stereotypical teen spies, then this might be right up your alley.
Side note: SATs suck.
Fantastic Four (2005)

Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Sci-fi
Synopsis: A group of four astronauts accidentally gain different superpowers after they were exposed to cosmic radiation as part of an experiment. Although these superpowers were not welcomed by all who acquired them, the astronauts used them to their advantage in their attempt to defeat the evil Doctor Victor Von Doom.
Review: Johnny Storm, also known as The Human Torch, is easy-going, confident, and immature. Chris Evans did a great job playing him.
Some movies are plot driven and others are character driven. I'd say Fantastic Four was equally driven by both plot and character. The dynamics of the four astronauts is what initially draws the reader in, but as the plot plays out, the action and adventure kicks in and the movie becomes more and more entertaining. However, it definitely falls short in the grand scheme of things. There was potential, but the way it was filmed just doesn't do it justice.
Recommended audience: If you like funny, action filled movies, character development, and groups of friends, then you should give this movie a shot. On the other hand, if you're prone to nitpicking everything wrong with Marvel movies, it should go without saying that this might be a stressful movie to watch.
The Nanny Diaries (2007)
Rating: 5/10 stars
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance
Synopsis: Annie Braddock (Scarlett Johansson), a college student, takes a nanny job for a rich but dysfunctional family in Manhattan. While keeping this job a secret from her mother and trying her best to tend to her employers wishes in regards to their spoiled child, Annie struggles to keep up with everything going on in her life.
Review: Another movie with Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson. Life is great. Evans was more of a side character since he played Annie's love interest, but the movie was funny and adorable nonetheless. The Nanny Diaries started off strong, but Annie's motives for becoming a nanny is somewhat vague making the entire movie a bit confusing. But that is only a minor setback to the overall plot. Johansson fit the role perfectly and the way the plot played out was funny yet endearing. The movie was bright and the kid was a devil, but there was a sad underlying plot that gave the movie more substance.
Recommended audience: This movie is gonna be a hit or a miss. If you don't look to deeply into the movie and just accept it for what it is, chances are you'll like it.
Push (2009)
Rating: 5.5/10
Genre: Action, Sci-fi, Thriller
Synopsis: Nick Grant (Chris Evans) wants nothing more than to get revenge on the government agency that killed his father: Division. Through a series of events, a teenage clairvoyant, Cassie (Dakota Fanning), finds Nick and together they search for a missing girl and a suitcase that has contents that could take down Division.
Review: Push starts off intriguing then becomes confusing. It's not really a movie you can think ahead of, and it's not a movie that sugarcoats things. You don't learn anything from it; there's no moral. It simply is what it is.
The friendship between Nick and Cassie is the kind of friendship people look for in books in movies. They start off barely tolerating each other, and the friendship evolves from there. Although this relationship was on point, there was another one that could have destroyed the movie. Watch it, you'll figure out who I'm talking about.
Push isn't an ideal sci-fi action movie, but it's not terrible.
Recommended audience: I don't really know to be completely honest. If you like Chris Evans, cute friendships, and confusing action, then I guess this is the movie for you.
